Strip Stroll

Last Thursday we were supposed to meet some people for dinner but due to unforeseen circumstances that never materialized. Even though we were a little bummed about it, we still managed to make the most of that evening. Below are some photos.

Homer is going to visit us on Friday. Yeah! We’re really excited and we can hardly wait.

Did I mention that we’re really excited?
The $2 billion Fountainbleau Resort. In the middle of the construction the company went bankrupt and it looks like another casino operator made an offer to buy it for under $300 million. Just pennies on every dollar already spent.

More of the Fountainbleau. This looks like the main entrance off the Strip. The Turnberry Towers can be seen in the background.

Classic cars.

Classic car details.

A new concept restaurant by McDonalds, more plush and interactive. Their so-called food and drinks are lousy as ever. Hey, McD’s, how about serving better food? Now here’s a concept.

The Riviera Hotel & Casino’s neon facade.

The new Encore Resort, the entry area with their lush gardens.

The Encore’s baccarat area.

The porte-cochère of the Circus Circus.
Detail of Circus Circus’ iconic marquee.

Thanks for all the great images of the strip. WE ARE SO HOMESICK! I see on the Riviera facade that Charo is coming back in November. She has one of the best shows I've ever seen. Did you know she is the top flamenco guitarist in the world? Don't let the cuchi cuchi fool you. If you have a chance, a show well worth the ticket price.

Rob and I used to do the "Strip Trip," starting at Mandalay Bay and working our way through the various resort tunnels and overpasses until we got to the Venetian. That was our standard "when visitors come to town" route.

Mike and Rob, you're welcome :) We're glad that you're enjoying our blog and the pictures. Charo was part of this year's Black & White party at the Hard Rock Hotel and she was a great entertainer and a fun lady. George and I may have to check out her show at the Riv. Warm greetings to the cold North.
